Creating Shift Templates
Shift templates are managed in Organization Settings. You need the right permissions (e.g. admin or owner) to create or change them.
Accessing Shift Management
- Go to Dashboard.
- Open Organization Settings.
- Go to Shift Management (or Shifts / Shift configuration, depending on your menu).
You can also open Shifts (the schedule calendar) and use Configure shifts or Settings to reach the same place.
Creating a New Shift Type
- In Shift Management, click Add shift or New shift (or similar).
- Enter:
- Name – e.g. "Morning", "Afternoon", "Night".
- Start time – when the shift begins (e.g. 08:00).
- End time – when it ends (e.g. 16:00). You can use times past midnight for night shifts (e.g. 20:00–04:00).
- Color – pick one of the options so the shift is easy to recognize on the calendar.
- Save. The new template appears in the list and can be used when assigning shifts.
Setting Shift Times
- Use Start time and End time in the form.
- Times are usually in 24‑hour format (e.g. 14:00 for 2:00 PM).
- For overnight shifts, end time is the next day (e.g. start 20:00, end 04:00).
Choosing Shift Colors
- When creating or editing a template, choose a color from the list.
- Use different colors for different shift types so the calendar is easy to read at a glance.
Editing Shift Templates
- In Shift Management, find the shift type.
- Open the menu or click Edit.
- Change name, start time, end time, or color.
- Save.
Existing assignments keep using the template. If you change the template's times, you may need to decide whether to update future assignments; that depends on how your organization uses the tool.
Deleting Shift Templates
- In Shift Management, find the shift type.
- Open the menu or Delete.
- Confirm.
Note: You usually cannot delete a template that is still used on the calendar. Remove or reassign those shifts first, then delete the template.
