Requesting Time Off

Managers and admins create time off for employees. Employees can also request time off (e.g. from the time clock); those requests stay pending until a manager approves or rejects them.

Creating Time Off Requests

As a manager or admin (creating time off directly)

  1. Go to DashboardTime Off (or Time off).
  2. Click Add time off (or similar).
  3. In the form:
    • Employee – select the employee (if there are multiple).
    • Time off type – e.g. Vacation, Sick leave.
    • Start date – first day of absence.
    • End date – last day of absence.
    • Notes – optional (e.g. "Family trip").
  4. Save.

Depending on your setup, this may create the time off as approved immediately, or as pending for review.

As an employee (requesting from the time clock)

  1. Use the time clock, enter your PIN, and go to the time off section.
  2. Click Add time off (or similar).
  3. Choose type, start date, end date, and add notes if you want.
  4. Submit. The request is created as pending. A manager must approve or reject it.

Selecting Date Ranges

  • Use the date range control (calendar or start/end fields).
  • Start date = first day of absence.
  • End date = last day of absence.
  • Start must be on or before end.

Choosing Time Off Type

  • Pick one of your organization's time off types (e.g. Vacation, Sick leave, Unpaid leave).
  • The type determines the color and label on the calendar and in reports.

Adding Notes

  • Notes are optional. Use them to add context (e.g. "Doctor's appointment", "Family vacation").
  • Notes can be useful for managers when approving or reviewing requests.

Single‑Day vs. Multi‑Day Time Off

  • Single day: set start date and end date to the same day.
  • Multi‑day: set start and end to the first and last day of the period. All days in between (inclusive) count as time off.
