Shift Scheduling
Planning Ahead
- Plan at least a week (ideally a month) in advance. Use time off overlays so you don't schedule people who are absent.
- Review the calendar before publishing: coverage gaps, overloaded days, and overtime (full-time).
- Use department grouping and department filter when printing/exporting so each team gets a clear schedule.
Balancing Workload
- Spread shifts across the week and across employees to avoid burn-out and underuse.
- Use Weekly view for detail when balancing a single week; use Monthly view for the bigger picture.
- Check monthly stats (total hours, overtime) to spot overloaded people or departments.
Overtime Management
- Overtime applies only to full-time employees. Mark overtime on the shift when it's intended (e.g. extra hours beyond base).
- Use monthly stats (Overtime hours) to monitor overtime and align with your pay rules.
- Keep base hours (employment type or custom) up to date so overtime is calculated correctly.
Schedule Communication
- Print or export (e.g. PDF) the schedule and post or share it (email, chat) so employees know when to work.
- Use department filter for team-specific sheets when you have multiple departments.
- Today's Schedule (dashboard and time clock) helps with day-of awareness; use the full schedule for advance planning.
